Unlike most escape rooms in Amsterdam, Questomatica uses no number locks or combination padlocks — every puzzle is sensor-based and responds to physical interaction. No digit codes, no keys, no padlocks.

The challenges are deliberately varied — spatial, physical, observational, intuitive — so that every person in the group gets their moment. Someone figures out the mechanism. Someone spots the detail everyone else missed. The rooms are designed for the whole group, not just puzzle enthusiasts.

The rooms are not designed to be scary — but every person is different. We have had young participants (including some under 8) who felt completely at ease, and some adults who found the atmosphere tense and needed a short break. Neither room contains horror or jump scares, and the atmosphere is cinematic rather than frightening.

That said, Wake Up! has a few moments where the lighting is low and the atmosphere is somewhat spooky. If anyone in your group is sensitive to that, we recommend Arcade Invasion — it is an adventure that is genuinely not scary at all.

The game itself is 60 minutes. The full visit takes up to 90 minutes, including the briefing before you enter and the debrief and team photo afterwards.

Please arrive no more than 10 minutes before your start time — arriving early does not extend your game time and can lead to unwanted spoilers.

Arcade Invasion is available in 9 languages: Dutch, English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Filipino, and Hungarian.

Wake Up! is available in 14 languages: Dutch, English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Hebrew, Greek, Catalan, Filipino, and Hungarian.

The game master speaks English, some Dutch, and other languages between the team. Hints are delivered in your chosen language — no special booking required. Just let your host know on arrival, or request no hints at all if you prefer the full challenge.

No experience is needed. The game master will fully brief your group before you enter. Before the game starts, your host will ask about your preferred challenge level — you can request hints only when you ask for them, or ask for as little help as possible if you want the full challenge.

That said, experienced escape room players consistently rate Questomatica among the best rooms they have played. The sensor-based puzzles offer something genuinely new even for veterans.

Yes — both rooms work from age 8 upwards, and at least one adult must be in the team at all times. Children often notice things the adults completely miss and regularly become the star of the group.

Arcade Invasion is our most family-friendly room — genuinely not scary at all. Wake Up! can feel somewhat spooky in places due to atmospheric lighting. If any younger players might be sensitive to that, choose Arcade Invasion.

Questomatica is one of the best activities in Amsterdam for grandparents and teenagers to do together — and almost nobody else offers this specific experience. The puzzles are varied enough that different generations contribute different skills: teenagers often move fast and think laterally, while grandparents bring patience, observation, and calm under pressure.

Neither room is physically demanding or scary. The experience creates a shared memory and a story to tell — which is exactly what that combination of generations tends to be looking for. Many grandparents have told us it was the best afternoon they spent with their grandchildren all year.

Yes. Both rooms can be booked simultaneously for groups of 7 to 24 people — two teams compete side by side and compare results at the end. We can block time slots and send an invoice.

Each room takes 2 to 6 players. One child under 12 joins free — book for one person less and note the child's age in the booking comments.

For groups of 7 to 12, both rooms can be booked at the same time — two teams play simultaneously and meet afterwards to compare results. The whole group arrives together. More about group booking →

Changes or cancellations must be made at least 72 hours before your game start time. Cancellations within 72 hours are not eligible for a refund. Full payment is required in advance to secure your booking.

Arcade Invasion is our more challenging room. It works best from 3 players, has a bonus task hidden for extra quick teams, and suits groups who want something fast-paced and technically impressive. If your group includes experienced escape room players, start here.

Wake Up! is our most versatile room and a great introduction to escape rooms. It works beautifully from 2 players — ideal team size is 3–4 — and has been rated highly by both first-timers and players with over 100 escape rooms played. The dreamlike atmosphere surprises people who expect escape rooms to be dark or tense, though it does have a few atmospheric spooky moments. It is the better choice for couples, first-timers, and mixed-age groups.

If you are coming by car, the IJtunnel exit is one minute away. Street parking is sometimes available on Foeliestraat and surrounding streets. Open daily 10:00–22:00.
